I would brute force it when I tried playing it every time before because I was adamant to myself that a walkthrough would be the end of the world (TM). I never got very far with that method, lol. So, walkthrough it is! ;P

If I recall, there were times when I basically just brute forced it by selecting every statement until something changed, so walkthrough away if it works for you! Enjoy the story and characters, the Phoenix Wright series is worth it.
