Paladins

It’s just so sexy!

I decided to go back to Paladins a few days ago to try and scratch the PVP itch that randomly hit me. I am not necessarily the best at FPS games, but I played Paladins in beta (I couldn’t tell you why, off the top of my head) and thoroughly enjoyed the cards system. I wasn’t half bad, either. I mean, I’m no e-sports pro, but I could hold my own most days. I stopped playing, for whatever reason, but decided since I had an idea of what the systems looked like (and it was free) that I’d go hop in and try it out again.

I’ve been having a lot of fun with it. I decided to pay the $15 USD to unlock all the characters since most of the basic ones didn’t particularly interest me (though I do love Cassie’s Dragon Hunter skin, and I’m probably going to start leveling her at some point so I can figure out how to pick it up). Right now I’ve been maining Seris. I absolutely love her design, and I’m half tempted to purchase the Infernal skin for her.

I also enjoy how she plays. I like the ability to both do some serious damage and heal. I’m still getting used to how the card system has been reworked since 2016, and I’ve yet to fully dive into making my own loadout for the character. I’ve also yet to fully delve into in-game purchases (it’s still currently set to auto-purchase), as it’s a completely new system for me. It also causes a little bit of anxiety to try and open that in, say, a deathmatch, and figure out what I need or want to purchase.

All-in-all I’m having fun, and I plan to keep playing until I’m not having fun anymore. Since I was having fun, I also decided to pick up Overwatch and try it out, since folks have been raving about it forever or whatever.

Overwatch

I went to go purchase Overwatch, and then realized that I must have, at some point, have purchased the special edition (or whatever we’re calling them nowadays) when it was on sale just for the WoW mini-pet, because I already had it active and ready for download. I played the tutorial, and against the AI a few times, and thought I was ready to try Mercy out in a match. Well, I was wrong.

I am bad at Overwatch. Terrible. I don’t know if it’s just that I’m playing the wrong character, or that I’m so new. But I’m going to take some of the advice I’ve gotten to play against AI some more and try out other characters within the same role I’m interested in. I’ve contemplated switching to Moira, since she and Seris play similarly, but I’m not fully sold on her. Maybe Brigitte might be more up my alley? Regardless, I feel like I’m going to be spending more time than I may like playing against AI so I don’t feel like a burden on my team.
