Corpse Groom

WARNING: Possible spoilers ahead!

I don’t have much to say about this quest-line for Tam-Tara (Hard) except that it fucked me up. In a good way, though. It was… intense! I remember seeing Edda and encouraging the group of them to go be adventurers. And then I remember finding out that one of them died. And it was sad, but then completely forgotten in the rush of the never-ending MSQ.

But man oh man. Tam-Tara (Hard) with all of the journal entries littered about the dungeon? I felt lucky to go in with a group of fellow first-timers, and we all stopped to read them, and discuss them in chat while working through trash mobs was a really fun experience that I’m glad to have had.

Defeating Edda was sad. And I’m glad that in the final dungeon complete cutscene your character doesn’t cheer, but instead is sorrowful. It was a powerful experience. It blew my mind.

But handing it in? That final cutscene?

KABOOM! MY BRAIN! Like, THIS is the type of horror stuff I love! Oh, so creepy, and so good!

I’ve heard that Edda shows up again, so I might have to go out of my way to find her. Though I’m not sure where.

I loved this story line too! And remember blogging about it back when I played through it. I was amazed that there’s this much story continuity between a few low level quests and a high level dungeon. Not to mention horror is my jam.

If you’re in the right place, right weather and the right time, Edda’s ghost appears – for just a flicker of an instance – at night in a certain location in each main city. I’ve only seen the video of it.

If you ever get a chance, try the Palace of the Dead and stick it out through the storyline – I think it’s to floor 50. Not only is the content fun but… not giving any spoilers here… 😉

A few folks have mentioned “Palace of the Dead but no spoilers!” to me now, so I guess I’m going to have to take some time sooner than later to go through it! And I loved Corpse Groom for all of the same reasons! I’ve seen video of her ghost, too, but not seen it in person yet!
