Seriously Geeky Sundays: Creativity

Seriously Geeky Sundays

It’s time again for Seriously Geeky Sundays, hosted by Heather of Just Geeking By! This week’s prompt is all about creativity and quirkiness in fandoms! Heather also has her May prompts already available, so be sure to check them out if you’re interested in joining. My answers for this one are surprisingly all from television series this time!

Creativity

What does creativity in fandoms/geeky interests mean to you?

I feel like my answer is a bit of a cop-out, but really anything that folks create inspired by their fandoms. That could range from blog posts, to video essays, to fanart/fanfic, etc. It’s kind of a boring answer, but it’s the truth of my thoughts.

What is the most creative story line you’ve come across?

Most creative? Hmm. I’m a bit biased, but I love the ideas brought up in Dollhouse. While I enjoy lots of Whedon-verse shows, Dollhouse is probably my absolute favorite for a plethora of reasons (followed closely by Firefly, of course). Even though it didn’t get the time on air that it deserved, and was rushed in Season 2 thanks to finding out last minute they were being axed, I love the story concepts and the characters (luckily I’m not alone).

Who is your favorite artsy/creative character?

Pff. I honestly couldn’t tell you. I’ve never identified much with the artsy characters. Or rather, I’ve never paid attention to the fact that they’re artsy or creative. I’ve paid more attention to their personalities and the like. If I had to think long and hard about it, though, the first two that come to mind are double-trouble from NCIS. Also known as Abby and Kate.

Who is your favorite quirky character?

This is a tough choice, to be honest. I wouldn’t say “favorite” overall, because that would take much more thought, but the first one that comes to mind is Nadine Hurley from Twin Peaks. I mean, she did end up making a career out of those silent drape runners!

Which fictional innovative invention do you wish existed in real life?

Teleportation of any sort. I very much dislike driving, and would love to just be somewhere instantly. That would also mean that I could visit family and friends at a whim.

What upcoming fandom are you most looking forward to?

I’m very much looking forward to the second season of What We Do in the Shadows (I know, it technically started earlier this month)! The movie is one of my top five of all time, and the first season was just as quirky, smart, and belly-laugh funny as the movie was. I’m going to have to wait until I can get a Hulu login to watch it, however, as I think my polycule cancelled their Hulu for the moment, and I typically watch it with Manthing.
