It’s taken us some time due to the fact it was summer, and people have lives, but Iron Circle finally downed Azshara on normal! We’ve been close for a couple raid nights, but just didn’t have the people to get her through. Now that she’s down, though, we’re focusing efforts back on pushing heroic.
The cutscene you get after defeating Azshara actually made me squee a little bit. Azshara and the old gods are some of my favorite Warcraft lore, and it’s felt like a long, slow, slog to even get to this point of the story since Battle for Azeroth started. Now that it’s here, I’m excited. I just hope Blizz keeps up with it, otherwise I’m going to lose my interest very fast once again. (Cutscene has spoilers!)
Congrats to all that were there on the first kill (March 29, 2018)! I’m hoping we can get the mount for some more guildies. A few folks have poked officers about it, and I think they’re concocting something along the same lines as the Moose? I hope so, anyway.
We’ve only downed him once, so far. But I’m sure we’ll get him on farm soon, so long as we can skip Coven. We’ve also only downed them once, and they are murder for us, apparently. I think I might be the only one in guild who enjoys the Coven fight.
A bit delayed, but just a quick hurrah that Iron Circle finally said buh-bye to Kil’jaeden on November 6th!
Some people are blocking other people, but I tried my best! ;P
Congrats to all that were there on our first kill, and our second kill yesterday! Hopefully we can get in another kill or two to get achievements for a few more folks in the raid team. It’s exciting to have him down. It means I can start working on my gaming to do list a bit more!
I am behind the times, and didn’t know that Warcraft had a Talk Like a Pirate Day event. I don’t know how I didn’t know this considering how into holidays I’ve always been in-game, and how I completed pretty much all of them pre-Pandaria.
The first thing that alerted me to it was some guildies talking about it on Twitter
And then I had a mini fangirl moment, because Caydiem is so awesome, and how cool is it to know the story behind a random NPC?!
So after running my first two Mythics of Legion (I got four upgrades!! Thanks T, Hearn, Pezzy, and Glom!), I flew on over to Booty Bay to have a drink with Dread Captain DeMeza, and take a selfie with her. Because any self-respecting fan of Miss Caydiem has to do this!
I kinda like this helmet on Naught…
And then it was waiting on that stupid Ol’ Eary for the toy drop. Luckily they’d made it a 100% chance drop rate instead of the troubles folks were having earlier in the day.
This hotfix is now live. More sharks should be spawning, quest items should now be shared, and Ol’Eary should always drop the toy. https://t.co/0ODZzT44bv
So I waited with everyone else. Fairly impatiently, for him to respawn so that I could get the toy and go to bed.
First try, he died so fast that I couldn’t even get a tag in. Second time, I joined in on a raid group that formed, tagged him, hit him a good few times… and still didn’t get a toy. What. The. Actual. Fuck. So, I waited around to try to hit him a third time.
It’s neat looking at how many folks there are from underneath.
And, well, third time’s the charm! (100% drop rate my fine looking ass…)
About twenty wipes over three hours. That’s what Saturday night looked like. Aggravating for some (lots of wiping always is), and exciting for others. We almost had him. The valks just kept killing us. We called it a night at our normal time.
We started early on Sunday, in case we were going to have a repeat of Saturday. All of us stoked. Somehow knowing it was going to be the night. And it was the night! After about six months of Shade of the Elm grinding out ICC, we down Arthas for the first time. Vent was a riot. It was exhilarating. The title finally felt official, even though the Elephant and I had already nabbed it. We one-shot him. (We aren’t counting the one attempt where someone was in the wrong spec. 😉 ) Also, thank you to Slater from Iron Circle for filling our third healer spot for the night!
Foolish, Me, Wind, the Elephant, Cand, Cheezy, Digi, Sellk, Vara, and IC’s Slater.
Congratulations Shade of the Elm! We did it!
Now, to switch around some people to get a few other dedicated guildies their titles…
I still can’t wrap my head around it. Nope, I can’t. After being a hardcore raider and finally getting burnt out, and then moving to a server to just enjoy the game and all its aspects (read: Achievements!!!!), I never thought I’d get it. Nope. Not me.
Sure, I’ve been raid leading an ICC10 Saturday/Sunday with the guild, and the weekly, and some older stuff like AQ40, and helping to heal the second ICC10 Tuesday/Thursday group for the guild… but I never thought I’d get it. We’ve seen Arthas as a guild. Yup, casual little ol’ Shade of the Elm has gotten their paws on Arthas. We just had two heals that night, and couldn’t down him, sadly (but that shall all change this weekend!).
Kingslayer. Yep. I still feel like it didn’t happen, even though my title is sitting up there and on my Armory.
Iron Circle, the Elephant Tree and Me!
I want to send a great big Thank You over to Iron Circle for asking us along for a Kingslayer run on an off-week for our guild. Thank you again, T, Steg, Ru and the rest! It’s been a pleasure playing with you all, no matter the capacity. Hope we can still run things together come Cataclysm! 😉
