    Developer Appreciation Week: Games

This week is the start of Developer Appreciation Week! Bel defines this as follows: The D.A.W. or Developer Appreciation Week is an event that used to happen in our blogging community but fell by the wayside. The idea behind it was it was a week to show our appreciation to the people that make all of those games that we love. The thing is over the years we have grown past just being a “gaming” thing, so for other communities it might be a time to reflect on your favorite Authors, Musicians or just Creatives in general. I’m going to do a few different appreciation posts throughout the week, but…

    Big Ugly Cry

Warning: There may be spoilers ahead! Oh, Heavensward… why would you do this to me? The ending of The Vault just… killed me. Haurchefant! I don’t think a game has made me cry this hard for this long before. I’ve sobbed and snotted so hard that I have gone through a half roll of toilet paper. And I think I have myself together enough to continue the MSQ. [A Few Moments Later] Oh Gods why??? The guards being all choked up has me absolutely sobbing again??? And then Count Edmont talks about what Haurchefant said to him and… I’m gone again. How dare you do this to me, Heavensward? It’s…

    Revisiting the WP Content Calendar

Back in April last year, I tried using the content calendar plug-in for the first time ever. And it really clicked with me. Fast forward to today, and it’s still clicking with me. In fact, before a depression period hit, I was ahead on blog posts because of this beauty of an addon! It also helps a lot for catching up on content (as I publish this after the actual listed publish date…). Now, as someone focusing on multiple types of content, do I find this to be a good end-all-be-all content calendar for me? Not at all. I still have to set up my weeks and month ahead of…

    Ding 80! …On Fisher

I hit 80 for the first time ever in FFXIV! But it’s not a Disciple of War or Magic. It’s Fisher. Honestly, Ocean Fishing made it a breeze to level. I think for now, though, I’m done with gathering professions until I hit Stormblood. So I guess… phase one, complete! This is post 13/31 for Blaugust You can find out more and sign up over at Belghast’s post!

    Creating a Second Blog

Back in 2019, I was wondering whether it was worth my time setting up a second blog or not. I had a lot of posts that flitted over the border of “lewd” into “almost or actual pornography/BDSM”, and I didn’t know what to do about it. Back when I was contemplating what to do, I mentioned that I didn’t “feel like there’s an easy answer to what I should do”. But there really was an easy answer. It just took me a few months to figure it out. I needed a website for my adult content creation anyway, so why the hesitation in writing about the nerdy NSFW stuff, too?…

    Stressing Over Dancer

Getting started on Dancer was a lot more difficult than I thought. The whole rotation explanation in Gamboling for Gil (the quest where you have to fight Ranaa) was beyond stressful! Trying to figure out what I was doing on top of Gegeruju being all, “Oh, wow. This is so entertaining. Not.” was absolutely harrowing. I didn’t know what my Dancer rotation should’ve looked like, and the quest did nothing to help me figure it out. I got super emotional over the quest, and ended up looking up my single-target and AoE rotations at level 60 just to get through the quest. Once I figured out what they should be, everything…

    Have You Ever: Gaming Edition

This blog post has been sitting in my drafts for about a year, so I figured I’d finally dust it off and put it to use during “Getting to Know You” week! I found this idea originally on Chasing the Four Winds, and it seemed like a fun evergreen prompt to keep in the backlog for when I needed a post on short notice. So, without further ado, let’s answer some questions about gaming! Have You Ever… Rage quit a game? I don’t think I’ve ever rage quit a game? I remember walking away from games because they were getting annoying or aggravating, but I’ve never logged out of a…

Getting to Know All About You

A new week means a new theme for Blaugust! And this week’s theme is all about getting to know you. Err, me? Anyway, Bel defines this week as “Getting to Know You Week”. The idea behind this week is to let the community know who you are and what some of your interests are. This is a great time to dip into that well of stories and tell us something interesting that has either happened to you or something about your specific spin on blogging. I only really have one or two posts planned this week to talk more about me in general. I find that most of the time…

How Week One of Blaugust Went

I saw this post on Thyanel’s blog and loved the idea, so I’m using it as well. If you’ve been following my Twitter, you’ll know that, well, this post is actually back-posted for August 8. I had most of the past week off, and I dealt with a lot of emotional things and decided to just… hide and relax. For like, the first time in a very long time. In as long as I can remember, anyway. So, the past week ended up as a lot of half-written micro posts that I posted the following (Aug 9-13) week. I’m also in my feels about the Blaugust Discord. I want to…

    Gathering and Audiobooks

Like most folks, I used to watch a lot of streaming television and/or movies while playing games. But I haven’t been into watching anything streaming in over six months at this point, except maybe on a date night with Manthing. But audio books have absolutely become my new jam. I started subscribing to Audible back in January after checking out The Hate U Give from the library on audio book. I’ve always told myself that audio books aren’t my thing… but I really think they are. The Hate U Give blew me away on audio book, and I honestly don’t think it would’ve had as big an impact on me…
