    Nerding Goals July 2020

May/June Recap I set up some May goals that seemed like I would manage most of them. I didn’t manage many, however, due to changes in the world and my own changes in game interests. Inventory Management (ESO) Check! Pick up the last items I need for learning crafting traits (ESO) Do a few quests in Grahtwood (ESO) I worked through my inventory management and tackled that, but I also realized that ESO really isn’t what I’m enjoying right now, as much as I may want to. So I’ll likely be putting ESO goals on the back burner for now, even if I do happen to log in and play some…

    Currently Nerding May/June 2020

Belated Nerding While July has officially started, I’ve been afk from much of social media and blogging just due to, well… *gestures at the world* and it’s effect on my mental (and physical) health. So I just wanted to do a quick recap of things I nerded out over the past two months to not only just talk about some fun things, but also get my blogging fingers working again after some time off to take care of myself. Monster Prom I spent quite a bit of time during May talking about my time playing in Monster Prom. I even dabbled in it some during June. But I kind of…

Writing Challenge: Day in the Life

The Challenge I came across this challenge, and decided to flex my creative writing muscles since they’ve been dormant a long while. I also figured I’d share the challenge so that others could use it as a topic if they needed something! Write a short story with the topic “a day in the life” and include these words. Identical Pot roast Decorate Sign Abuse Library Amnesia Butcher Hydrangea Parakeet My Writing Arkady sighed. She rolled over to turn off the harsh alarm abusing her ears with a wave of her hand, and flopped back into bed on her back. Another wave of her hand brought up Arkady’s heads-up-display, hovering in…

    Am I Bouncing Off ESO?

Last week, Syp had some thoughts on inventories and their effects on immersion. While his thoughts lead up to, specifically, Pantheon wanting to bring inventory weight back, it made me wonder if his starter thoughts are partially why I’ve been so “meh” about ESO as of late. I’ve been stuck with an overflowing inventory for months. For a while I only had time to log in for events and made sure to collect boxes and such and obtain my tickets, but then I had an inventory full of boxes, and not much desire to do anything with them. I’d log in daily, if I remembered, grab my log in reward,…

    Monsters and Stickers

Blog Crawl! First, I want to give a shout out to Ace Asunder and Later Levels for the really cool idea they’ve come up with! I’ve already downloaded my trivia sheet and have been filling it out. The idea is that pubs typically have trivia nights, so since we can’t go to pubs, let’s do something similar through blogs! I’m looking forward to the final event for it, and seeing how everyone did with the trivia! Think about joining up if you’re looking for some new blogs to check out, or looking for possible bling for your blog. No actual blogging necessary, but it may give you some post ideas!…

    Unintended Self-Discovery

Discord Overwhelm Telwyn of GamingSF had some thoughts on Discord at the start of the month that resonated pretty strongly with me. I just find I haven’t established a useful relationship with how Discord is used. I currently belong to five different community servers (including Blaugust, two MMO-related ones and two tabletop rpg ones). I rarely keep up with even the “main chat” of any of them, let alone the 5-10 other topic specific channels that *each* community has. Using Discord feels like being hosed down with content every time I open the app. I very much feel the same. Every time I open Discord, I am inundated. And while…

    Monster Shenanigans

What is a Weekend? Rambling Redshirt mentioned in one of his recent posts that he’s been experiencing some difficulty differentiating between weekends and weekdays. I’ve been feeling much the same, to be honest. The routines are much the same, and the content differs, but only slightly. My weekdays are busy with meetings and day job tasks, adult entertainment tasks, and blogging. But my weekends are much the same, minus the meetings. Therefore, as of this past weekend, I’ve decided to start a new thing. Mainly because I’ve just been burnt out on life. I took Saturday completely for myself, as much as I struggled with doing so. And honestly, having…

    Seriously Geeky Sundays: Food

Seriously Geeky Sundays Another Sunday, another set of prompts brought to us by Heather of Just Geeking By! This week’s prompts were spawned by today being both National Cherry Cobbler Day and National Walnut Day, along with a bunch of other National food “holidays” this week, so Heather decided it obviously had to be a food-related question week! Be sure to check out the rest of May’s prompts if you’re interested in joining, or start planning for June’s prompts! Food If you could have any fictional food item become reality, what would it be? Probably some of the confectioneries that show up in the Harry potter novels. Probably the chocolate…

    TBR Lists and Reading Things

My First TBR (To Be Read) List For the first time in my life, I have a TBR list. When I was younger and reading voraciously, I would just pick up books that I enjoyed the cover of, and worked my way through the public library that way. I didn’t particularly have a list, per se, unless it was the “summer reading list” that seems to be a common thing for US-based schools. It is strange, in a way, to have a reading list for the first time in my life. I mean, I’d have piles of books that I “wanted to read”, but I never seemed to make my…

    It’s Been a Crazy Week

Blogging Goals It has been a crazy week emotionally, physically, and with work tasks. I had wanted to get this post out Monday, but it is now Friday, and I am just sitting down to write it. But that is life. I am at least writing, so there is that. I want to try to keep up with blogging much more than I have after every other blogging event. Especially since I’ve a lot of ideas right now, with posts planned out mostly through July at this point. Right now, I aim to try and put out five posts a week. Here’s my current plan. Sunday: Seriously Geeky Sundays (prompts…
