Calmed Down
I’m Scared, Yo So, I’ve calmed down since writing the WildStar post yesterday. And while I do feel that NCSoft has a financial model change up its sleeve, I have to admit that I’m really scared. I’ve never been actively playing a game during a shift in model. More often than not, I’d play a game some, get distracted by another game, and then come back to the game after the model change. Or, I’d played it as it released B2P. However, much as I don’t particularly care for NCSoft as a whole company, they do have great B2P models in their repertoire, so that helps to calm my nerves,…

WildStar News Wednesday
Phew. It’s been quite a news-heavy day for WildStar today. First, we found out that all box copies of WildStar were removed from the shelves in Australia. And that sent the internet into a frenzy of, well, a picture is worth a thousand words. Yep. So, after a Twitter rant, and an un-posted blog post, I calmed myself down, and realized that there’s no official announcement yet, and what really aggravated me most about the whole thing is (1) my standards on online reporting are way too high and (2) I fucking hate people that will jump on a bandwagon of “Doomed! [From the start.]” and “I’ll play it if…

The Thousand Maws of Toto-Rak
We got some more time in FFXIV this past weekend, and worked some more on our main story line. Our goal is to hit 30 in our first class, and then pick up our secondary class and level it to 30. So Chaide will be picking up Conjurer (he’s already an Arcanist) and I will be picking up Gladiator. We’ll work on side quests out in Gridania until we hit 30 on them as well. Anyway, onto our adventures in Gridania! The Sylph of Gridania We were sent over to Gridania with Papalymo and Yda to speak with the Twin Adders and meet with the Sylph to make sure that…

Favorite MMO Fantasy Setting
Today at Massively OP, the Daily Grind asked what your favorite MMO fantasy setting is. For me, it’s three different games. I am not classifying WildStar as a fantasy, as I much more see it as sci-fi than fantasy. World of Warcraft While I no longer play WoW, I’ve always loved the Outlands. I’m not sure if it’s because it’s when I first really got into the game (so it’s nostalgia) or because it’s just that great of a map. Or both. My favorite zone within the Outlands was probably Nagrand, with Zangarmarsh as a very close second. The zones just felt so expansive and full of life. Final Fantasy XIV Every zone…

Let It Flow!
I don’t normally do this, but this YouTube video is something that has made me laugh more than anything else in quite a long time. So, enjoy this gem of Anakin singing a version of “Let It Go”. Because Vader is a better name anyway! Actually, Vader is a better character than Anakin was. Granted, if there had been another actor and better writing (and no Jar-Jar), I think the movies would’ve been better overall. But, it was just Lucas being all “grabby hands”. But that is another post for another time. G’night, blogosphere!

What Makes a Good Guild?
A few weeks ago, Massively OP had an article about what makes a good guild. It’s a fantastic read, and anybody that participates in MMOs should take a look at it. The question that was posed in the article was as such: I’d like to know your recipe for a great successful guild. By that, I mean what you think makes a guild good and what you’d look out for if you were looking for a new guild. I’m currently guildless inWorld of Warcraft and am on the lookout for a great new haunt myself after being disappointed by other guilds I’ve joined. So, what does make a good guild?…

Chocobo Racing
This weekend, Chaide and I played a bit in the Manderville Saucer. I loved the mini-games, but didn’t bother with the Triple Triad table. Maybe I will try a game sometime this week and see if I like it or not. I’m not the best at card games, so I’m kind of hesitant. Off to the Races The one thing I was looking forward to the most at the saucer was the Chocobo Racing. And I found out I kind of suck at it. Most of the time I ended up in eighth place. I did win once, but I call it luck based on how terrible I was doing…

Developer Appreciation Week 2015
Today marks the final day of Developer Appreciation Week for 2015. Lots of folks around the blogosphere have been thanking Developers in games that have made a difference in their life (even a small one) left and right. While there have been many games I’ve played that have made a difference in my life, whether they be console, handheld, or one-shot computer games, I would like to specifically thank the MMO developers out there. Why? Belghast said it best: I have a hard time viewing these companies as the evil empires they are made out to be. No one sets out wanting to make a horrible product, and no one…
